Cherry Wu

Cherry Wu is a Research Associate at the Center for Global Security Research (CGSR) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Her work focuses on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on global governance and stability. At CGSR, Cherry's research agenda includes examining the comparative perceptions of AI risk between the United States and China. By exploring the disparities in these risk perceptions, Cherry aims to shed light on their strategic implications for the United States.

Currently, Cherry is a graduate candidate in the Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) program at Georgetown University, specializing in the Science, Technology, and International Affairs concentration. During her time at Georgetown, she served as a Research Assistant for the CyberAI team at the Center for Security and Emerging Technology (CSET). In this role, Cherry contributed to various research projects on AI and cyber education initiatives within the United States.

Cherry holds a BA in Political Science from McGill University in Canada. She was the recipient of the Alexander MacKenzie Scholarship for top academic performance in political science. She also received the Women Associates of McGill Scholarship, which recognized her overall academic excellence and leadership qualities. After completing her BA, Cherry conducted an independent research project on AI ethics and collaborated with policy think tanks. These experiences have significantly shaped her current research interests in emerging and disruptive technologies.
